Happy Easter!🥚🐰🎉 From Alumni G!

Easter is one of the most significant holidays in the Christian calendar, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, its origins blend religious tradition, ancient pagan festivals, and cultural evolution.
At Alumni G, we welcome people of all backgrounds to learn at our Centre. We don't just offer international school tutoring—we invite learners of all ages to grow through our mentorship program and News page!

Because we value inclusivity, our Cultural Department is sharing the story of Easter to help more people understand this celebration.

Easter is a Christian festival that celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus. For Christians, Easter marks the culmination of Holy Week, which includes:
  • Palm Sunday (Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem)
  • Maundy Thursday (the Last Supper)
  • Good Friday (the crucifixion)
  • Easter Sunday (the resurrection)
The resurrection symbolizes victory over sin and death, offering hope and renewal to believers. The date of Easter varies each year, calculated as the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox (March 21).

Before Christianity, many cultures celebrated spring festivals honoring rebirth and fertility. Key influences include:
  • Eostre/Ostara: A Germanic goddess associated with spring and dawn, possibly inspiring the name "Easter."
  • Pagan Fertility Symbols: Eggs and rabbits, ancient symbols of new life, were later incorporated into Easter traditions.

Today, Easter is celebrated worldwide with:
  • Church services (sunrise masses, hymns, and prayers)
  • Egg hunts and chocolate treats (a fun tradition for children)
  • Family gatherings and festive meals (feasting on lamb, ham, or special breads)

So no matter if you have no plans for Easter, share a chocolate or have dinner with your neighbours. Or if you need tutoring on your academics. Why not visit our Centre?
We offer numerous courses and tutoring services that other centres may not provide. While others may focus on 1 on 1 tutoring and getting A’s on report cards. At Alumni G, we mentor you through life.
